Saudi Female Falconer Turns Childhood Passion into Mastery of Falconry

In a story reflecting deep pride and connection to Saudi heritage, female falconer Amina Al-Anzi from Northern Borders Region shared her journey of raising and training falcons, an enduring symbol of the Kingdom’s national heritage, turning a childhood fascination into a disciplined practice grounded in learning, patience, and gradual progress.

She told the Saudi Press Agency, “My passion for falcons began years ago when I watched them at festivals. After acquiring my first falcon, I started learning step by step.” She acknowledged that the early stages were challenging, particularly the fear of losing the bird or it not returning, but dedication and consistent training helped her overcome these fears.

Al-Anzi emphasized that mastering falconry is neither easy nor quick, requiring patience and continuous practice to build a strong bond between the falconer and the bird.

She also expressed her love for the art of falconry and her desire to continue developing her skills, including participating in the upcoming falcon festival in Turaif Governorate, an event that helps preserve and showcase this cherished heritage for future generations.
