Saudi Arabia’s Madinah Honey Production Tops 100 Tons in 2026

Honey production in Saudi Arabia’s Madinah region has surpassed 100 tons in 2026, reflecting strong growth in a sector authorities see as supporting environmental sustainability and agricultural development.

More than 1,400 licensed beekeepers are now active across the region and its governorates, operating over 154,000 beehives, according to local authorities.

Officials attributed the sector’s expansion to specialized programs and initiatives aimed at improving production systems and training Saudi workers in beekeeping and honey production.

As part of those efforts, four specialized training courses were conducted for 270 participants under professional development programs designed to enhance sector efficiency.

Authorities also launched initiatives to support mangrove honey production, improve honey sorting, packaging and marketing, and provide small-scale beekeepers with breeding and production equipment.

The measures have helped improve the quality of locally produced honey and increase productivity across the sector, officials said.
